random thoughts

As the title indicates I have some random ideas bouncing between the ears. First, I read some interesting information about hillary. Polling is indicating that Hillary is polling at 48% aganist rudi. Why' s that interesting jackson? - reason - she is polling at 48% aganist Ron Paul, meaning it doesnt matter who was running aganist Hillary, she wasn't taking any votes from any republicans. There are loyal Hillary supporters, but she is nobodys second choice. Also the same polling indicates that although 18% of republican women are going to vote for her, 20% of dem males, will not. Very interesting, I have repeatedly commented that the only way the Republicans can win this election, is if the dems are foolish enough to nominate Hillary. Even the most disenfranchised republican who stayed away in 06, to punish the party, will come runnning to vote, early and often (just kidding) to defeat the evil empresses.

Mike Huckabee is the best candiate for the Republican Party. And recently the other candiates have started to notice. The negative attacks are really coming now, WSJ, mitt, etc. I'm a firm believer that you don't waste your time slinging mud aganist a second tier candiate. You only send your hencemen out to attack the people you fear. Folks don't look now, but people are starting to fear Mike. I still firmly believe that he will win the iowa republican caucus on jan 3.

An early jan dem caucus will kill obama. I strongly believe the highest percentage of Obama supporters in the state are firmly concentrated in ames and iowa city. Too bad, that obama didnt learn from Lamar Alexander. (i proudly was wearng a plaid shirt back in the day) No matter how many supporters were showing up in early december, the students just weren't on campus during winter break, and as a result, despite the fact students packed olmsted hall at drake to watch Lamar in late nov/early dec and cheer him on, I was only 1 of 8 students that showed up for the Caucus. Unless obama is funneling some of Oprah's money to put kids up in hotel rooms across the state, Hillary will win 35%.

Why don't the Republican Go Crazy about this?

One of my biggest complaints about the Republican party is that we don't have a nut job, ie like Carville or Dean, that go crazy, when the Dems do something that really should aggravate us. I would just once love us to fight back. I don't think our base is switching to the dark side, I just believe that we are tired of not having someone who fights back. It would appear that if we had a spokesman who was articulate and persuasive that could blast the Democrats when they play politics at the expense of the American People. I am so sick and tired of hearing how the Republicans put profits ahead of people, well today the democrats put Political Game Playing over the american people:

Maybe someone should point this is why the Congress has an appoval rating of 24%

A moment I won't soon forget

Two nights ago, my family sat down for dinner, as usual, our tv was on. Abc Nightly News was simply blasting in the background. That was until our collective attention was piqued by the story of Lt. Michael Murphy. For those of you who don't know Lt. Murphy, his family was recently awared the Medal of Honor. Lt. Murphy give his life to save his platoon in in the Mountains of Afghanstan. Specifically, his unit was pinned down, being attacked by Tailban from all sides, he knew their only chance of surival was to call in an airstrike. The problem was that the terrain was such, that from their position they couldn't get a signal. So Lt. Murphy crawed out, and called in the air strike, knowing full well his position was compromised, and he was a sitting duck. He was struck by enemy fire, but still finished the call, and the airstrike was delivered. As they showed pictures of Lt. Murphy, my three year old son, asked who's that?, to which I responded, thats a hero. Although in retrospect is seems a bit cliche', that truly what I said, and how I felt. The next story on the news that night was a pro-war, pro-sucess story about how much things had improved in fulijah, Iraq. The story explained that what was once the most deadliest place in Iraq, has made a tremedous turn around. Soliders and Civilians can now walk down the street, the market had reopened, and the Iraqi police was working side by side with our troops to drive out the terrorists. I was able to have a conversation with my son, that there are bad people in the world, that want to hurt us, but luckily we have people, who are willing to go half way around the world and fight them, so that they don't come to our home. I grateful that we have men and women like Lt. Murphy, it's just a shame that we don't have more of them.

This post probably would not have been written, if I could have gotten to sleep at a decent hour last night. I was flipping the Channel, and landed on 360 on Directv. Fox News. Bill O, was on, and notwithstanding my political leanings, Im not a big fan of Rush or Bill, but I caught his talking points. it was about Lt. Murphy. Specifically he was noting that neither CNN or MSNBC, chose to cover, Lt. Murphy's award. How could a man who saved lifes, and recieved our nation's highest miltary award, not make news. Perhaps you could make the point that your local news channel only has a finite limit on time, and it we could have a respectfully disagreement about whether this is appropriately newsworthy, enough to bump the local weather guy from giving us the third live vipir forcast, but MSNBC or CNN, come on they have hours of news to fill. Lt. Murphy heroics wasn't worth 4 minutes, during the 3 hours you were on primetime. However, before I past final judgement, I will give them an opportunity to respond. I sent both an email this morning asking, why it was that they choose to not do a story about Lt. Murphy, and/or his family reciept of the Medal of Honor. I will post their response if I get on.

Have a good day.

Colts, Still the Best in the League

I know, I Know, but Jackson, what about the Patriots? Don't get me wrong, I am really enjoying watching Tom and the boys light up the league, and unless some injury takes Brady out, he will break Peyton's TD record this year. But I am firm believer, that the Champ is the Champ until they are beaten. Last night, I was actually thinking that the Jags were going to take care of business. Home dog, MNF, conventional wisdom says bet the Jags, but something keep me from pulling that trigger, perhaps it was my desire not to violate State and Federal Law, nonetheless, I just didn't think The Jags could handle the Colts, with everyone being healthy and having a bye week to get prepared. Last year, the Jags ran right through the colts, absolutely destroyed them, and last night, for the most part a defense of Freeney, Sanders and 9 other guys, who you probably couldn't name without looking them up, held the Jags in check all night. Manning in my mind is still the best in the league, absolutely understands everything that is going on, and remains in complete control. And most importantly, he always gives you a chance to win, he won't beat himself, at least he hasn't in the last 20 or so games. I however do not, as others concede, think that the Pats have more weapons right now, Moss, has been a machine, and once again proves the Raiders are awful, in everyway, Welker looks like Stokley of old, and Stallworth, has shown why the Eagles and Saints, can't evaluate talent. I would assume that Maroney is healthy and will an additional dynamic to this attack. So as a result the question in my mind is who'd would you rather have, if you could make one superteam out of the two: It comes down to Dallas Clark or Stallworth For Me, And thus the Colts in my mind, head to head have the better weapons:
I'd rather have: Manning, Addai, Moss, Harrison, Welker, Clark.
Over: Brady, Maroney, Wayne, Stallworth,Gonzalez, Brady

Great Article.

The ground swell of support around Mike keeps growing. But don't take my word for it:

Please Explain More..Gary..

I want to make it clear, I want to promote free speech at all times, and differing views. I am a firm believable that you should always surround yourself with people who are smarter than you are, and have different opinions than you do. As a result I appreciate Gary taking the time to bring some lefty logic to Ms. Clinton's ramblings. With that in mind, Please, make sense of some of these quotes:

"I am a fan of the social policies that you find in Europe" Hillary in 1996" From the book "I've Always Been A Yankee Fan" by Thomas D. Kuiper, p. 76 - Hillary in 1996)

"The only way to make a difference is to acquire power" (From the book "I've Always Been A Yankee Fan" by Thomas D. Kuiper, p. 68

"You show people what you're willing to fight for when you fight your friends."
(From the book "The Agenda" by Bob Woodward, ch. 14)

"What are you doing inviting these people into my home? These people are our enemies! They are trying to destroy us!"
(From the book "The Survivor" by John Harris, p. 99 - Hillary screaming to an aide, when she found out that some Republicans had been invited to the Clinton White House)

But perhaps my favorite:
"Why do I have to keep proving to people that I am not a liar?!" (From the book "The Survivor," by John Harris, p. 382 - Hillary in her 2000 Senate campaign)

Can Hillary Actually Win?

When I speak with my friends from the left, they all assure me that I have nothing to fear, that Hillary is the answer to all of my prayers. I of course, am not yet ready to drink the kool aid, Mr. Jones. But I thought I would let you all decide, is the following person, the right choice to be president:

"We just can’t trust the American people to make these types of decisions. …Government has to make these choices for people.” —Hillary Clinton circa 1993, speaking to Rep. Dennis Hastert on the issue of who should control the allocation of money in her health care reform plan

“The unfettered free market has been the most radically disruptive force in American life in the last generation.” —Hillary Clinton

“We’re saying that for American to get back on track, we’re going to cut [the Bush tax cuts] short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” —Hillary Clinton, in a 2004 fundraising speech to wealthy liberals in San Francisco

“It’s important to have core principles and values, but if you’re going to be active in policy and politics, you have to be a realist.” —Hillary Clinton

“We can’t afford to have that money go to the private sector. The money has to go to the federal government because the federal government will spend that money better than the private sector will spend it.” —First Lady Hillary Clinton, in 1993, regarding health care reform

Wouldn't be nice to just have some interest groups running commericals right now with these quotes on the screen, minus her name, and then fade to black with the statement, do you agree with these statements if so, vote for their author, and have the following choices - Stalin, Pot, Mao, Clinton. And then have Hillary's name is highlighted in Commy Red.

Ramblings from the Debate

Don't look now but Huck won again. Huck of course is Republican Mike Huckabee. Repeatedly, Mike looked like he could play the part of President, which of course different then FDT, who has played the part of President before, but continues to not wow, when not talking off a script. Well, let me take that back in the last week, even when talking off a script he hasn't looked the part, perhaps he needs someone else to write the script to be well, presidental. I continue to be frustrated with the debate process, Huck didn't get to speak for the first 18 minutes of the debate, but when he did, he scored big points in my mind:

"There are some real issues out there we need to be fighting for. One of them is the sanctity of human life - it's one of the core issues of our humanity and our civilization. When our founding fathers put their signatures on the Declaration of Independence, they said we have certain inalienable rights given us by our creator - and among these, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - one of them being life - and I still believe that."

Huckabee said one subject that is "not funny" is the prospect of Hillary Clinton becoming President of the United States. Under that scenario, he said, "Taxes go up, health care becomes the domain of the government, spending goes up, and our military loses its morale. I'm not sure we will have the courage and the will and the resolve to fight the greatest threat this country has faced: Islamo-facism. We've got an enemy that wants to kill every last one of us. We cannot be soft, we must be strong."

And Finally, it would appear that the American public is starting to notice as well. When I went to bed, Huck was winning the text in vote on Fox. Out of full disclosure, that is not completely accurate, Ron Paul supporters hijacked the vote so their candiate would win, but Huck came in second. (I am unwilling to believe that a guy who believes 911 wouldn't happened if everyone on the plane would have had guns, and believes we need to revert back to a system of buying everything with gold, is capable of running an effective campaign for president)

Nonetheless, I thought it was a good night to be a Republican. As the focus group pointed out, we are tired of letting the Democrats, act like Democrats, and no one call them on it. Nancy and Harry have been disasters, and even thought they, (congress) have the lowest approval rating ever, the media fails to report the story.

As an aside, think if the Republicans sent a letter to a private citizen's employer asking that he or she be fired, because the Republican's disagreed with that person. The media would be all over that, calling for a investigation, and oh my god, what if that employee was a person of color, Jesse and Al would be calling for protests, but isnt that what Harry and his fellow Dems did aganist Rush? We don't like that he used the term phony solider, fire him!

Sure the media reports that Rush raised 2.1 million, but not a one, reports or digs at why people were willing to put up serious money purchase the letter. I mean come on, does anyone want a signed letter from Harry Reid? Whats that worth, a dime? No, its that we don't believe Government should be telling the private sector what to do.

Thats all for now, later I explain my run in this weekend with a Hillary supporter.
